Crazy World

A few days ago while trying to push myself out of a very crowded train, a middle aged, normal seeming woman who is doing the same, shouts as loud as she can: "I FUCKING HATE TOURISTS!"

Take a guess on who this beautiful woman is...

... its 19 year old Frances Bean Cobain, the daughter of great Kurt Cobain and out of her mind Courtney Love. She definitely has the mysterious and grungy style her father had and, well, lets say the rock 'n roll look her dear mum Courtney has.

Shot by french photographer Hedi Slimane, more photos on http://www.hedislimane.com/diary/.

Crazy world

The other day i sat in a train, next to me a young, modern looking woman with a head scarf.. and next to her a man reading the "National Zeitung" (national newspaper) with an iron cross as a logo and written in "Suetterlinschrift" (old German writing).

Portuguese wedding with sunglasses and pastel colours

Half a century - Breakfast at Tiffany's

5th of October- Happy Birthday Breakfast at Tiffany's! Legendary Audrey Hepburn's and charming George Peppard's beautiful performance, turned the novel by Truman Capote into colour. Audrey starring as Holly Golightly, a beautiful, sophisticated, at times confused, cynical yet romantic New Yorker socialite and Peppard portraying Paul Varjak alias Fred, a charming author, makes me dream of strolling down New York's 5th Avenue in the 60s, drinking take away coffee and smoking cigarettes.

Holly Golightly: I'm like cat here, a no-name slob. We belong to nobody, and nobody belongs to us. We don't even belong to each other.

Holly Golightly: Did I tell you how divinely and utterly happy I am?
Paul Varjak:
Yes.

Paul Varjak: Holly, you're drunk.
Holly Golightly: True.

Stomach full of carrot cake (To do)

Yesterday a birthday party, today a birthday party.. and both of the hosts decided to bake carrot cake - which doesn't really surprise me, cause they were tasty as hell.
After having eaten carrot cake yesterday evening, today for breakfast, today after lunch and most probably tonight for desert to get rid of the last leftovers, i thought it's time to check out the ingredients and soon give it a try myself. Here a reminder.

Ingredients Base

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • large eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups grated carrot
  • (8-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
  • (3 1/2-ounce) can flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Preparation

  • Line 3 (9-inch) round cakepans with wax paper; lightly grease and flour wax paper. Set pans aside.
  • Stir together first 4 ingredients.
  • Beat eggs and next 4 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Add flour mixture, beating at low speed until blended. Fold in carrot and next 3 ingredients. Pour batter into prepared cakepans.
  • Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Drizzle Buttermilk Glaze evenly over layers; cool in pans on wire racks 15 minutes. Remove from pans, and cool completely on wire racks. Spread Cream Cheese Frosting between layers and on top and sides of cake.

Ingredients Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 3/4 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • (3-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 3 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Add powdered sugar and vanilla; beat until smooth.

(Wow, really sounds like a challenge!)

To do: Follow the sun

Something I'd really like to do is letting the sun lead me around the world.
1. Check out the weather report to see where there will be sunshine the next day
2. Travel to the closest sunny destination
3. Enjoy where the sun takes me
